AUGUST 12:IBM introduced its first personal computer.

On this day in 1981,IBM introduced its first PC,the model 5150.It was created by a team of engineers and designers under the direction of Don Estridge of the IBM Entry Systems Division in Boca Raton, Florida.
The IBM PC,with increased memory capacity and backed by IBM's large sales organization,quickly became the industry standard.Uses of PCs multiplied as the machines became more powerful and application software proliferated.
